On page 48, the 2025 Foundation Operations & Management Report states that 99% of foundations used a consultant for at least one service in the past year, with 9% fully outsourcing operations. The most common services outsourced were tax preparation (81%), investment services (58%), legal work (55%), audit services (49%), and bookkeeping (41%).
