The Skees Family Foundation based near San Francisco has looming ambitions to help end poverty and extend human rights around the world. With just one volunteer staff person and $2 million in assets, it amplifies its efforts with multiyear grants and volunteer time to select U.S.-based partners that manage programs in 26 developing countries.
