As resources diminish and the demand for nonprofit services grows, it makes sense that organizations consider working together. Collaborations come in all shapes and sizes. They include simple meetings or partnerships, more intense alliances in which organizations share administrative or programmatic goals, and formal mergers in which two previously independent organizations create a new one or dissolve one into the other.
Many foundation leaders have seen the benefits of fostering collaborations among their nonprofit grantees, and some have initiated grant programs to do just that.
